Leading Haleon's biggest global event, Growing at Haleon with Employees (GAHW) 2024, was a high-stakes challenge that put my leadership and problem-solving skills to the test, transforming chaos into a seamless, online-hybrid experience for 20,000+ attendees worldwide. This flagship virtual and in-person gathering united Haleon's global workforce, top executives, and external speakers to foster growth, collaboration, and innovation in everyday health, earning global recognition for its scale and impact. As lead designer, I was awarded for my outstanding design contributions, rallying teams, digging into user pain points from past events, and delivering solutions that kept everyone aligned, proving my ability to drive massive projects from vision to victory.
Rallying the Team
Picture this: coordinating GAHW meant wrangling an internal design team and two third-party agencies, one for shooting, editing, photography, and social media; the other for live hosting, and staying in sync with Haleon's top executives. I stepped up as the central hub, setting clear brand guidelines drawn from my research on past events' pain points (like confusing schedules and poor accessibility), and held daily stand-ups to keep everyone on track. This leadership ensured flawless execution, from speaker bios that built excitement to on-brand videos that hyped the hybrid format, showcasing my skills in stakeholder management, team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and vendor management.
Solving Real User Pain Points
Past events revealed frustrations; attendees felt lost in clunky interfaces and disconnected from speakers, so I led user research to pinpoint fixes, then designed an intuitive event website as the digital backbone with interactive schedules, speaker details, on-demand content, and global accessibility features. When scheduling conflicts arose with external speakers, I problem-solved by personally crafting their bios, negotiating time slots, and syncing with videographers and hosts, turning potential disasters into polished highlights. My strategic problem-solving is optimized for scalability, blending motion design, UX principles, and brand design to boost engagement for in-person executives and remote participants alike, addressing hybrid event challenges head-on.
